Locating Laptops Under 300
Most people looking for laptops under 300 dollars have to start looking in the bargain bin or the used stores for something reasonably working or just plain working. Never-mind the scratches or weird looking stains, most laptops under 300 dollars just plain suck. For that reason alone and because I’m just like you, I’d definitely recommend that you pick-up the Meego powered netbook from Asus called the Asus Eee PC X101H.
True, it may not be as powerful as some refurbished laptops under 300 dollars, but what it lacks in sheer raw power it more than makes up for in new and reliable hardware untouched and unsullied by anyone’s hands before it reaches yours. Featuring standard 10.1” netbook specifications, the X101H comes in two different flavors. One has an 8GB solid state drive while the other has a 250GB hard drive. If you’re a writer or want some more performance then go for the 8GB solid state drive but if you’re getting a laptop or netbook to look at movies then go for the 250GB hard disk equipped version.
Small, compact and black, the Asus Eee PC X101H is surprisingly compact and lightweight. This is mainly because it packs in a 3-cell Li-Ion battery for some surprisingly good performance. With the energy saving features on and just browsing the Internet or answering emails, it should be able to last from 4 to 5 hours alone, while those looking to see a movie can get the X101H to go unplugged for about 3 hours.

One of the key features that makes the Asus Eee PC X101H so different from the other laptops under 300 dollars is the fact that the keyboard is simply awesome to type on. The netbook itself isn’t a slouch by any means and should be able to perform to the standards of most laptops under 300 dollars. However, the main issue with the Asus Eee PC X101H is actually the MeeGo powered operating system. While it is designed for a less powerful system, it takes some getting used to, especially if you’re used to using either an Apple iOS or a Microsoft Windows based operating system. However, if you have ever used an Android tablet or Android smartphone before, then you should be able to master the MeeGo operating system quite quickly. Another really good feature of this netbook is that it is easily the most lightweight netbook in the market, perhaps due to the smaller battery and solid state drive (provided you chose the X101H with the solid state drive equipped).
